Enrichment

At Lapford Community Primary School we offer a broad and balanced curriculum that is enriched in a number of ways to excite our children’s appetite for learning. We aim to plan activities that enrich the experiences and learning of our pupils, so that they are challenged or get to experience things that they otherwise might not.

Opportunities

Whilst the teaching of basic skills in English and Mathematics are very important at our school, we are proud of offering our children many other opportunities which support their development into rounded, confident and tolerant individuals.
We provide opportunities for our children to experience learning further afield, for example we arrange class trips which compliment the learning we are doing in class. These may include trips to watch theatre productions, visits to Rosemoor or even the zoo!
As well as planning visits outside the school, we are also incredibly fortunate to have a woodland area at the back of our school. Children can enjoy a huge range of activities in this area, including bug hunting, den building and circle time.

Clubs

We have an exciting range of clubs for our children to participate in that are run by staff and outside providers.  They include football, tag-rugby, dance, guitar, recorder, art and coding club. These clubs take place after school and during the lunch-hour. We are fortunate to have a huge field on our grounds and this is used most of the year, including during the half-term holidays when Saints Southwest offer Half Term courses for children to attend.

Links

As well as making the most of Lapford, we have many local community members visiting our school and contributing to our children’s education. Whether it's older community members sharing their memories, Open the Book, Fire Safety visitors or volunteers supporting us with our learning in class, we promote and value these relationships.
We enjoy opportunities to take on challenges and we encourage children to participate in events, such as World Book Day, Sports Relief and NSPCC Numbers Day, by dressing up and enjoying a range of enriching activities.

Celebrations

Children’s achievements, both within school and outside school, are celebrated in our Celebration Assemblies which are held once a month.
